DATE EVENT THE SCOOP May 8,  2008 Bicycle Summit A public meeting is planned for concerned citizens and public officials to discuss the Bicycle Friendly Community application for Durango and surrounding area. For more information: info@SafeRoadsCoalition.org May 23-26, 2008 Iron Horse Bicycle Classic The 36th Annual bicycle race against the train from Durango to Silverton along with a weekend of special events. Road and Criterium Race, citizen's tour and many other events for one of the longest standing races in North America. June 23-27, 2008 Bike To Work Week Special events planned to celebrate bicycle commuting, get information, try it for the first time or just continue your righteous commuting lifestyle. Sponsored by the City of Durango and several interested groups. July 27, 2008 Durango 100 Annual Century Ride from Durango to Farmington and back with shorter option turning at Aztec. Sept. 14-20, 2008 Boure Bike Fest Daily rides that start at some of Durango's better breakfast restaurants. Ned Overend comes out for 3-4 rides. Unsupported. For all abilities. Sept. 21, 2008 Tour De Fat Tour de Fat, New Belgium Brewing's traveling celebration of all things bicycle, rolls through 11 cities this season, including Durango, spreading the good word about the myriad benefits of cycling and celebrating mankind's greatest inventions… bikes and beers. Sept. 27, 2008 Durango Fall Blaze Ride with Tommy D. He does lots of socializing in this 3rd annual fund raiser for cycling scholars. You can choose to either ride with him, or put the hammer down and say you finished ahead of him. Supported. For all abilities.
